Upgrading to Site Designer

Upgrading to Site Designer

Site Designer is the future of ecommerce website building and editing at Volusion. This feature is intended to make the site creation and update process simple and seamless.

Initiating Site Designer

1. To begin the upgrade process, you will need to update your Volusion password. This is necessary because Site Designer is authenticated by AUTH0, which has more strict password requirements. New password requirements will be:

  • 8 characters
  • a lowercase letter
  • an uppercase letter
  • a number
  • special character (!@#$%^&*) in the password
  • maximum 20 characters

2. If you havent already, enable Premium Checkout with these steps.

3. From your stores Admin Dashboard, choose Settings > Beta from the drop-down menu.

Then choose Theme Gallery to see the theme options.

Volusion recommends that you pick a single theme to work with as changes made on one theme may not transfer to a different theme. Using the Preview buttons on each theme will allow you to preview a theme before choosing it.

Updating your Site Designer Theme

1. We suggest that you begin by editing your homepage. Mouse over the header section of the homepage and click the green Edit Template button to open the Edit Block menu.

NOTE: A green Edit Template button indicates that the section being edited is universal to the site and will show on all pages on your site, such as the Header and Footer.

2. In the Edit Block menu, you can make choices to design your homepage Header.

3. Scroll down the page to the additional sections. You will see a grey Edit button as you mouse over each section. Clicking this will open up the Edit Block menu for the section.

NOTE: A grey Edit button indicates that the block exists only on this page, so any edits made will only show on this page.

Rolling Back Site Designer

If you need to roll back your store to its previous non-Element design, you can click the Rollback button. Keep in mind that rolling your site back will unpublish your Element storefront and revert back to your legacy site, and the process can take roughly 10 minutes.
