How to Verify SSL Certificate Installation

How to Verify SSL Certificate Installation
If you accept credit card payments directly through your website, you must have an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) installed.

How can I tell if my SSL is working?

There are a few things to check if you want to verify that your SSL is installed. You should also keep in mind that if youre still on a temporary servertrust address, the SSL will not be applied to your site until you go live on your domain name.

  • If you visit your store Admin Area, you should see "https" and a padlock symbol in the browser address bar. This may appear differently depending on which browser youre using (Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc.).

  • If you click on the padlock, it should provide information about the SSL certificate and its expiration date.

  • If you visit your store's One Page Checkout, you should see "https" and a padlock symbol (you will need to enable Full Secure Store URL if you do not see this).

I have an SSL, but I still get "insecure content" warnings on some of my pages.

When your store's SSL certificate fails to encrypt all of the elements on a page (e.g. forms, textboxes, images, etc.), customers receive an "insecure content" pop-up message.

To resolve the error, all you need to do is find the elements on the page that cannot be encrypted and make some minor modifications.
