This article covers how to use the Inventory extension to set inventory levels for your product variants.

To access this functionality:

  1. Go to the Products app.
  2. Select the product that has variants you want to track inventory for.
  3. Scroll down to the Inventory section.
  4. Press Start Tracking Inventory. Note that you can still edit the parent product SKU here, but all variant inventory management must be done separately.
  5. Scroll down to the Variants section.
  6. Locate the Edit Products subsection.

How to Set an Initial Stock Count

Each variant now has a Quantity column. By default, the value is Not Set. Press the value itself to set the initial count.

Enter the on-hand total in the Quantity field (you can also use the up and down arrows to adjust the value), press Set, and then press Save.

You'll now see your initial count in the corresponding row of the Quantity column.

How to Adjust Inventory Levels

To manually adjust the on-hand quantity of a variant, press the current Quantity value.

The Add / Set toggle is set to Add by default. Simply enter the amount you'd like to add to your current total in the Quantity field (you can also use the up and down arrows on the right to adjust the value), press Update, and then press Save. Your new Quantity will be the previous count plus the count you added.

To lower the quantity, simply add a dash before the value in the Update Quantity field.

If you'd like to reset the variant's quantity from scratch, flip the toggle to Set. The new value you enter in Update Quantity will overwrite the Quantity value. Be sure to press Update and Save to lock in your change.

To stop tracking inventory on an individual variant, go to the three-dot more options menu in the corresponding row and select Stop Tracking Inventory. To stop tracking inventory for all variants on the product, go to the three-dot more options menu for the entire product and select Stop Tracking Inventory.
