This article covers additional adjustments you can make to the SEO section after you've completed your initial configuration in the Settings feature. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, helps you improve your store's general organic search engine ranking. To access the SEO tab begin by clicking the Settings icon in the left Navigation Menu.
From the Settings page, click the SEO section at the top of the page.
The values in this section help your homepage perform better in search engines.
The Homepage title tag appears on visitors' browser tabs and displays as the website title in organic search engine listings. You can follow the format of the default text in the field, or create your own format.
The Homepage meta description helps search engines understand the page content better and displays as the website description in search engine listings.
The Google result preview shows how your page will display in Google's organic listings based on how you fill in the other two values. It updates in real time as you edit them.
Note that values don't finalize until you press the Save button at the top left of the page.
Some popular websites require you to install a verification tag before they'll index your site properly. We provide fields to verify Google, Bing, and Pinterest. Enter your tag in the appropriate field(s) and save. Do not include prefatory text, such as google-site-verification=. Enter the code itself as demonstrated in the example text.
If you're verifying through Google specifically, make sure to use the HTML tag verification method described in Google's how-to guide.
Submitting your store's sitemap to a service like Google Search Console can help optimize search performance. To download your store's sitemap, right-click Download Sitemap.xml and select Save Link As/Download Linked File As from the context menu. Hidden products and categories aren't included in your sitemap.
Your sitemap file updates automatically once every 24 hours. If you'd like to refresh your sitemap before its regularly-scheduled update, you can manually force a refresh by clicking Refresh Sitemap.xml.

When you need to move content to a new page, Volusion's URL Redirects feature lets you point the old or deprecated URL to a new URL, ensuring that the page retains existing SEO value. To access this function click the Manage URL Redirects button.
