Avalara AvaTax is a cloud-based solution automating transaction tax calculations and the tax filing process. Avalara provides real-time tax calculation using tax content from more than 12,000 US taxing jurisdictions and over 200 countries, insuring your transaction tax is calculated based on the most current tax rules. Address for Avalara

In order for the Avalara Tax Integration to work correctly you must have a Primary Address set in your Store Info section. To access the Store Info click the Settings Feature icon in your site's Left Navigation menu on the Dashboard page.

The page will open on the Store Info tab. Scroll down the page an locate the Store Addresses section.

If you do not have an address set in this section, use the Add Button to create one.

When you're finished with your changes, press Save.

Connect Your AVALARA Account

Once you have completed the setup on the Avalara website, you can add the Avalara Integration to your store. From your store's Dashboard, click the Integrations link on the Left Navigation menu.

On the Integrations Page, click the Integrations tab at the top center of the page.

On the Integrations Page, locate the Avalara tile and click it to begin the install process.

Once the Avalara modal pops up, click the Install button at the top right.

On the following popup, click the Confirm Install button.

After installing the Avalara Tax integration, click the My Apps tab on the Integrations Page.

From the My Apps tab, locate and click the Avalara Tax Integration.

This will open the Avalara Tax Page.

In the Avalara Account Number field, enter you account number as provided by Avalara.

Then, enter your Avalara License Key, as provided by Avalara. Once you have entered this information, click the Connect button.

Once the Connect button has been clicked, you can enter your Company Code, as provided by Avalara.

After entering the information provided by Avalara, click the Activate Tax Rates slider to activate your Avalara Tax Integration.

Your connection can be tested using the Test Connection button to the right of the Activate Tax Rates slider.

A failed test will be indicated by a popup on the page advising "Avalara credentials are invalid". At this point, please review the information provided by Avalara for accuracy. If the information was entered correctly, please contact Avalara Support for further assistance.

A successful test will be indicated by a check mark on the Test Connection button.

Important Information When Using AVALARA

Item Level Tax Exemptions

Individual Products can be set to be tax-exempt using the following process.

From the main Dashboard, click the Products link in the left navigation menu.

From the Product list, choose the product you wish to set to tax-exempt by clicking the product's SKU.

Scroll to the ‘Shipping and Tax’ section and click the ‘Select Tax Code’ button.

You can type the category of product you are editing and the drop-down menu will show results that match with applicable tax codes. Click the Save button at the top left of the page to save your changes.

If the applicable Tax Code has been set to be tax-exempt on the Avalara website, it will be treated as tax-exempt during checkout on your Volusion site.

Customer Level Tax Exemptions

Individual customers can be set to be tax-exempt using the following process.

From the main Dashboard, click the Customers link in the left navigation menu.

From the Customers List, choose the customer you wish to make tax-exempt by clicking the customer's name.

In the Entity Use Code section of the customer record, choose the correct Entity Use Code to indicate the nature of the tax exemption. Click the Save button at the top left of the page to save your changes.
