Creating the Main Blog Page

To create a dedicated Blog page on your site, open the Site Designer feature by clicking the Site Designer icon in the Left Navigation Menu on your store's Dashboard.

Using the Page: Home dropdown menu at the top left of the Site Designer Page choose the Add a Page option.

After choosing the Add a Page option, give you Page a Title and a Path. The Title will be your Page's name and the Path will be what is added at the end of your site's URL to access the page. We chose Blog for our Page Title and /blog for the Path. SEO information can be added later by accessing the page from the Page: Home dropdown and then clicking the Edit button for the Block. Click the Done button when you have added your Title and Path.

Your new Page will now be displayed. Click the Plus Sign icon in the Add Block section to add the Blog Block to your page.

At this point, you can edit the Blog Block as outlined in this ARTICLE.

Creating the Posts Page

To have your Blog Posts properly show on the page, and open within your website when clicked, it is necessary to create a second non-customer-facing Blog Posts page.

Using the Page: Home dropdown menu at the top left of the Site Designer Page choose the Add a Page option.

After choosing the Add a Page option, give you Page a Title and a Path. The Title should be something related to your Blog, however, as this page will not be customer-facing, it could have any name. We chose the Title Blog Posts for our page. Set the page Path to the same directory you used on your main, customer-facing Blog page, plus "/:pageUrlText" (example: /blog/:pageUrlText). Click the Done button when this is completed.

Your new Page will now be displayed. Click the Plus Sign icon in the Add Block section to add the Blog Block to your Blog Posts page.

To set the block to display blog posts, mouse over it and click the Edit button that appears at the top left corner of the block.

In the Blog URL field, add the URL for your WordPress blog, just as you did for the customer-facing Blog Page. Only WordPress blogs are supported at this time. Do not add https:// to your Blog URL.

Using the dropdown menu, choose your Page Type. Set the page to Posts Only.

When your edits to the non-customer-facing Blog Block are complete, click the Done button at the bottom of the Blog Edit Block popout.

Your final step should be to click the green Publish button at the top right of the Site Designer page.

Adding the Blog to your Site

There are several options for displaying your Blog Page. One of the easiest is to add it to your Site Menu using our Menu Editor. Open the Menu Editor by clicking the Menu Editor icon on the left Navigation Menu on your site's Dashboard. Click the Add Item button and choose Page from the popup menu. From the Add a Page popup menu, choose Blog. This will add your Blog link to your site's main menu.

The link for your Blog will now be visible on your site's Homepage in the Main Menu.

A second option would be to add the link to your site's Footer. Open the Site Designer Page by clicking the Site Designer icon on the left Navigation Menu on your site's Dashboard. Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate your site's Footer Block. Click the green Edit Template button. In the Footer Menu section, click the Add button. This will replicate the last item in your Footer Menu (Returns in our case). Click this item and edit the Text and Link in the provided fields (we added Blog as the Text and /blog as the Link). Click the Done button at the bottom of the menu to save your changes. You will also need to click the green Publish button at top left, as you have made changes to the Template.

The link for your Blog is now displayed in the Footer Block of your site.

Clicking either link will open your site's Blog page and allow customers to access your Blog. Updates made to your Wordpress blog will automatically show on your VOLT store, and the blog posts will display on your site when clicked.
